'Birds fly over the rainbow, why then - oh, why can’t I? If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow why oh why can’t I’ - E.Y. Harburg

The Peninsula gives its surroundings a real colonial feel. The hand cut and fixed Oak tiled roof is finished with a hand turned finial. The tiles have had a clear coat of sealer to preserve their beautiful colour and give them extra protection.

The Peninsula although based on an English dovecote is far more practical and is actually a nesting house for your garden birds.

Inside the Peninsula is divided into eight separate ‘apartments’ suited to all of your garden birds, especially House Sparrows, a communal nesting species (now sadly in decline due to the loss of suitable nesting sites). Our customers have reported House Sparrows, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Robins, Greenfinches, taking up residence.

Place away the the food source, as birds do not like to nest close to food.

The roof removes for easy cleaning. Unscrew the finial, lift off the roof, remove the top ring and you are in. We recommend cleaning in the Autumn as your birds will sometimes use your nesting boxes to roost in the cold winter months.

The Peninsula is solidly hand constructed from sustainable timber painted with Farrow & Ball colours.

The Peninsula comes in two parts, both fully assembled: Fix the post into the Metpost, two dowels are fixed into the base, two holes are in the bottom of the house. Push one into the other squeeze together and all is done. For extra security four screws are supplied with pre-drilled holes.

Fix into the ground simply with a 75mm x 75mm Metpost.

Dimensions (cm) 48 x 95H
Post (m) 1.6H
Overall height 2.55m

Samantha's Tip - To encourage the birds in my garden to use my Peninsula and my Raffles, I have my Raffles in the front garden, and my Peninsula in the back garden.
